What Anduril Industries Does
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building autonomous weapons systems and the AI software that commands them, headquartered in Costa Mesa, California. Founded in 2017 by Palmer Luckey (the founder of Oculus), Trae Stephens, Brian Schimpf, Matt Grimm, and Joe Chen, Anduril rejected the traditional cost-plus defense contracting model in favour of building products with private capital and selling them as finished systems.
Its core product is Lattice, an AI-powered command-and-control operating system that fuses data from thousands of sensors into a single real-time picture and uses built-in machine-learning models to detect, track, and recommend responses to threats with minimal human workload. Around Lattice, Anduril builds a vertically integrated hardware portfolio: the Ghost and Anvil small unmanned aircraft, the Fury / YFQ-44A Collaborative Combat Aircraft being developed for the U.S.
Air Force, the Roadrunner reusable interceptor, Barracuda autonomous air vehicles, Dive-LD and Ghost Shark autonomous underwater vehicles, and Sentry autonomous surveillance towers used for border and base security. In 2024 Anduril took over the U.S.
Army's IVAS soldier mixed-reality program from Microsoft. The company doubled revenue in 2025 to roughly $2.2 billion and is scaling production through Arsenal-1, a hyperscale autonomous-systems megafactory under construction near Columbus, Ohio.
In May 2026 Anduril raised a $5 billion Series H led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz at a $61 billion valuation, roughly doubling the $30.5 billion valuation from its $2.5 billion Series G eleven months earlier. Anduril is widely regarded as the defining venture-backed defense-AI company in the United States and a central supplier to the Department of Defense and allied militaries in Australia, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and Taiwan.
