What Saronic Technologies Does
Saronic Technologies is a defense technology company that designs and builds autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) for the U.S. Navy and allied maritime forces, headquartered in Austin, Texas.
Founded in 2022 by former U.S. Navy SEAL Dino Mavrookas (CEO), Vibhav Altekar, Doug Lambert, and Robert Lehman, Saronic builds autonomous boats designed to be produced at scale and at low cost so that the U.S.
can field large numbers of unmanned vessels — a response to the shipbuilding capacity gap with China. The company's vessel line spans the small Spyglass and Cutlass platforms, the mid-size Corsair, and the larger Mirage and Marauder, each integrating Saronic's in-house autonomy software for navigation, sensing, and coordinated multi-vessel operations in contested and GPS-denied environments.
In March 2026 Saronic closed a $1.75 billion Series D led by Kleiner Perkins at a $9.25 billion valuation — more than doubling the $4 billion valuation it reached in early 2025 — with participation from Advent International, Bessemer Venture Partners, DFJ Growth, BAM Elevate, 8VC, Caffeinated Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Elad Gil, and Franklin Templeton. The capital funds Port Alpha, Saronic's next-generation shipyard, and the expansion of its existing production facilities in Louisiana and Texas, with a goal of building more than 20 ships a year by 2027.
Saronic is one of the fastest-rising autonomous-maritime companies in defense and a leading example of software-defined, mass-manufacturable naval autonomy.
