Standard AI

Standard AI (formerly Standard Cognition) is a computer vision company founded in 2017 and headquartered in San Francisco, California. It first built autonomous-checkout technology that used ceiling-mounted cameras and proprietary AI to anonymously track which products shoppers pick up, letting retailers add cashierless checkout to their existing stores without per-item hardware.

The company has since expanded into computer vision analytics for physical retail, helping stores understand shopper behaviour and operations from camera data. Standard AI has been valued at around US$1.5 billion.
