Isomorphic Labs

Isomorphic Labs is a London-based AI drug discovery company spun out of Google DeepMind in 2021, built on the Nobel Prize-winning AlphaFold protein structure prediction technology. The company uses AlphaFold 3 and proprietary generative AI models to design small molecules and biologics against targets previously considered undruggable.

In May 2026 Isomorphic raised a $2.1 billion Series B — one of the largest biotech financings in history — led by Thrive Capital with participation from Alphabet, GV, Temasek, CapitalG, MGX, and the UK Sovereign AI Fund, bringing total disclosed capital to over $2.7 billion. The company has secured landmark pharmaceutical partnerships collectively valued at nearly $3 billion: a deal with Eli Lilly ($45 million upfront, up to $1.7 billion in biobucks) and one with Novartis ($37.5 million upfront, up to $1.2 billion in biobucks), with both collaborations targeting disease areas where the Isomorphic platform designs the candidate molecules.

The company is targeting its first Investigational New Drug (IND) filing and entry into human clinical trials in late 2026. The scientific approach combines AlphaFold 3's ability to model the structure of biological molecules — proteins, DNA, RNA, and small molecules — with in-house generative design models that propose candidate therapeutics optimised for binding affinity, selectivity, and druggability.

CEO Demis Hassabis (also CEO of Google DeepMind) positions Isomorphic as attempting to compress the typical 10–15 year drug discovery timeline, with the $2.1 billion Series B to fund AI model development, platform scaling, and internal pipeline advancement.
